Members of UNAM'S Faculty of Literature and Philosophy/Facultad de Filosofia y Letras are also preparing a full Spanish translation of The First Hay(na)ku Anthology for future release. Reflecting the hay(na)ku's continued popularity, THE HAY(NA)KU ANTHOLOGY, VOL. II is released just three years after the first hay(na)ku anthology. The traditional purpose of the Adriatic Meeting is to present most advanced scienti?c research conducted by the lecturers who take part in the development of their ?elds and, in addition, to provide a school-like atmosphere for young scientists. Dubrovnik, as a geographical centre of this region of Europe, provided a most adequate location for this conference. Having very agreeable surroundings, the conference site nevertheless gave a focus for very strong scienti?c interaction. The subjects chosen for the 8th meeting, in September 2001, were gauge theories, particle phenomenology, string theories and cosmology. We were able to bring together a very good cross section of outstanding scientists who gave extraorinarily good presentations. Certainely one reason for this success is that most of us feel obliged to help the scienti?c life in South East Europe return to its former level. However, there are very exciting new scienti?c developments as well. Part of the meeting was dominated by neutrino physics which has just seen exciting progress by establishing neutrino masses experimentally. This was d- cussed within neutrino masses and grand uni?ed theories (GUTs). General - pects of neutrino physics and CP violation, neutrino mixing and the bayron asymmetry were presented along the same lines. On the theoretical side the idea of the construction of gauge theories on non-commutative spaces and their phenomenological implications is accepted worldwide within the particle physics community.

In National Effects of the Implementation of EU Directives on Labour Migration from Third Countries, six distinguished European labour law academics discuss how three EU Directives on labour migration – the Single Permit Directive, the Blue Card Directive, and the Directive on Seasonal Employment – are being implemented in EU Member States. Guaranteeing third-country national workers robust equal treatment with regard to working conditions and pay is a crucial criterion for avoiding social dumping, exploitation, and other reasons for regime shopping within the EU. However, Member States are still reluctant to compromise control of their borders and their labour markets. The EU legislation adopted is, as a result, fragmented and full of solutions that give Member States an extensive margin of room for manoeuvre. This book looks at the interaction of the EU legislation adopted with the labour migration systems of France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and Sweden – five countries with very different characteristics and approaches to the implementation of these Directives.

• conditions for granting work permits;
• reasons for withdrawing a work permit;
• how long a migrant worker can stay;
• whether a migrant worker can bring his or her family;
• employment and labour rights of migrant workers;
• migrant workers’ access to social rights;
• how a migrant worker may enforce rights;
• sanctions for violations of applicable provisions; and
• potential for permanent status for a migrant worker.

For each of these issues, the authors analyse to what extent national legislators are prepared to adapt their national systems in order to fulfill the aims of the EU Directives. They also identify unintended, or at least not explicit, effects of the implementation process. The authors clearly reveal whether the ambitions of the EU, when initiating this process, can be detected in the implementation process and how implementation of the three Directives have changed, and could change national law on these issues thereby providing a detailed consideration of legal issues faced by third-country migrant workers in the five EU Member States.
